Tvguide.ca: Let’s start with the drama in the house. How did you feel about the incident between Hannah and Isis in the hot tub and the alleged ‘racist’ comments?
Nikesyha Clarke: I did not know it had happened until Isis came over and we heard all about it. Isis did talk to Hannah and Hannah did say, ‘You know what, I am uncomfortable with you because where I’m from there’s not a lot of people like you.’ She doesn’t have to be comfortable with Isis. But at the same time, she did have a lot of issues with a lot of the black girls. For instance, Joslyn was jotting something down on a napkin, and then Hannah would pick it up and wipe her mouth with it. And then she would walk past Brittany and push her. At first okay maybe it was just an honest mistake, but then there were a lot of mistakes. We weren’t really trying to accuse her of being racist; we just wanted to know her stance and the reason for all of that. But her answer to everything would be to start crying.
TVG: Can you tell me what the difficulties were posing with Benny Ninja in those tubes?
NC: I am not flexible. I thought Sheena was going to kill in that exercise because she’s extremely flexible. To me I was a little intimidated because I can’t even do a split.
TVG: What was the hardest part about posing on the ladder at the photo shoot?
NC: Holding yourself up; you want it to be contortionist, you want it to look hard; which was easy because it was hard [Laughs]. Then the wind was blowing my dress up, my underwear was all out and I was trying to push it down. I had these longs tracks in and was trying to move it behind me so it didn’t block the face. Then you had to get your light and hold yourself up in a crazy pose. It was like, wow, a lot.
TVG: The judges kept focusing on how much you talked and that you kept interrupting them. Did that come as a surprise to you?
NC: I know I talk a lot, my mother told me I talk a lot. But it’s usually a good thing. This girl talks a lot so she’s lively and outgoing. On the show it was more like this girl talks a lot, she needs to shut-up, why's she cutting me off? I was a little like, 'Oops, sorry.'
TVG: Were you intimidated at the ladder shoot because of the harsh critique you had in the previous episode?
NC: I wasn’t really intimidated. I was more like I needed to do well because I was in the bottom two the week before. I needed to show Tyra that, I could do this and she put me here for a reason. I wanted to show her that I was there because of this, this photo. That clearly didn’t happen.
TVG: And what about when you told everyone you had to go pee before doing the poses with the accessories?
NC: I really did have to use the bathroom, but I also really need to be more censored. I always say the first thing that pops into my head and usually it’s with friends. Usually I say what comes into my head and it’s funny. It’s like okay you’re not with friends. I didn’t mean it to come off the way it did.
TVG: And where do you go from here?
NC: I definitely still want to model. I love modeling, doing the runway and catwalks. I love all of that. And I want to be everywhere. I’m going to continue going to go to agencies and try and get signed. Next year I want to be in fashion week all over the world.
