Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants, and it’s hard to believe our little spongey friend has been around for 10 years – that’s half my lifespan! [Ed. note: Sigh.]
Over the past 10 years, the show has gathered a devout following of kids and celebrities alike. The show even has a stamp of approval from the President Barack Obama himself, who told TV Guide during the elections that his all-time favourite TV character is, “SpongeBob SquarePants, because SpongeBob is the show I watch with my daughters.” Now if that’s not high praise, I don’t know what is.
In celebration of the show’s milestone, YTV has been counting down the Top 100 episodes chosen by fans. To conclude the countdown will be the première of a new episode, “To SquarePants or Not To SquarePants”. In the new episode, all of SpongeBob’s square pants have shrunk in the dryer and he can’t find anymore to wear, so he decides to try a new look — but no one seems to recognize him as SpongeBob RoundPants.
