Faith: Lynette’s mission was to seek out answers about why she’s managed to survive different struggles in her life and others haven’t. So she decided that going to church might help. Bree invited Lynette and the Scavo family to join her and Orson at the Presbyterian church, and what happened next was quite funny. After the pastor finished his sermon, Lynette put up her hand, like a child in a classroom, to question the pastor about how he said, “God’s love is as sure as the sunlight.” Lynette wondered if that statement was true when there are wars and “dumbasses” going into schools shooting children (So funny when Orson turned to Bree and asked, “Did she just say dumbass?”). Embarrassed by the spectacle, Bree later tried to convince Lynette to go to another church, only to find out that Lynette had looked to Bree as an example of someone with great faith. In the end it was Lynette who taught Bree something about faith.

Love: Although it may not have seemed like an act of love at first, especially since her husband Victor had only been dead for two weeks, Gabrielle’s mission was to marry Carlos... again. After getting permission from her parish priest, Gaby brought him to the hospital where Carlos was recuperating to perform the ceremony. Before letting the priest begin, Carlos told Gaby that his eyesight wouldn’t come back for a few months and wanted to make sure she could handle it. Once she said she could, they were married. It was only after the fact that Gaby learned the truth – Carlos would never regain his sight. After punishing him a little for lying to her (she guided him around the kitchen in a path of destruction!), Carlos confessed: he was afraid Gaby would leave him if she knew the truth. But Gaby put him at ease by telling him she was in this for better or for worse.

Truth: After finding pieces of the burnt note that her late aunt had written, Dylan’s mission was to know the truth of what happened to her father. “Your father was murdered” were the only words she could piece together. So she sought Adam’s help, despite that fact that he had left her mother. Adam spoke with Katherine before meeting Dylan, and told Katherine he would provide her with one last alibi and then he was done. When Adam saw Dylan, she begged him to tell her the truth about what happened to her father. He told her that Katherine did not murder her dad and that she loved Dylan very much.

Facing missions in life can be very interesting, especially for the women of Desperate Housewives. Sometimes we find what we’re looking for but for the ladies of Wisteria Lane, I wonder if what they seek is what they shall find? My mission: keep watching and find out.
