I swore off anything to do with space during my early years. After seeing Armageddon and Deep Impact, I decided I’d rather not fill my head with ideas of impending doom upon the earth.

Most people don’t feel the same because there are countless amounts of shows set in space that have huge cult followings. The annual nerd-fest (Comic-con) took place this past weekend, which featured panels with the stars and creators of some new and old galactic shows.

One of the newest shows to crash into our TV sets is Canada’s own Defying Gravity. Filmed in Vancouver, the show is described as Grey’s Anatomy set in space. Inspired by the fictional BBC docudrama Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets, the story follows eight astronauts (four women and four men) from five different countries that undertake a mysterious six-year international space mission.
