Succeeding in the entertainment business is significantly dependent on networking and connections, and if contacts can be secured with a wedding ring, all the better. So it’s no wonder that married actors, actresses and the like have appeared alongside each other on both the big and small screens for decades.
With the ever-popular role of guest star on the rise in television, viewers are seeing more and more husbands and wives joining their recurring cast member spouses for brief stints on TV series. The latest hubby to join his wife in an onscreen guest appearance is Jerry O’Connell, who will star opposite his real-life spouse Rebecca Romijn on her ABC show, Eastwick.
This may be a new role, but it won’t be the first time the pair have acted on the same set. O’Connell first joined Romijn when the couple were engaged, in an Ugly Betty cameo, and Romijn also guest-starred on O’Connell’s 2007 short-lived series, Carpoolers. Now, two years later and happily married, O’Connell will appear as a love interest of Jaime Ray Newman’s character, Kat, in the final two episodes of Eastwick’s first season.
Whether it’s a fan frenzy-fed gimmick for ratings or a matter of convenience, spousal guest appearances aren’t likely to lose popularity any time soon. Look no further than the following compilation of some of the most memorable guest-starring spouses to date.

The more dysfunctional a couple is, the better.
A proud single gal with an obsession for everything New York, Stephanie is one relocation away from living out her dream as a Carrie Bradshaw impostor. In the meantime, her weekly column scrutinizes the most explosive couples, crushes and relationship catastrophes to unfold on the small screen. |
