It was a relationship that was doomed before it ever fully bloomed. After three and a half seasons of womanizing and two-timing, Two and a Half Men’s Charlie Harper was finally tamed by ballet-instructor Mia (Emmanuelle Vaugier), but by the time he and his former fiancée made it to the altar, the pair’s differences stopped them from taking that final leap, and Charlie chose his brother and nephew over his bride.
With Charlie’s sole shot at successful monogamy at a screeching halt, it appeared his bachelor days would never end. But three years later —and following the death of an old friend, which forced the perpetual player to reconsider his freewheeling lifestyle — a second chance appeared in his latest love, Chelsea.
Having been down this road once before, it’s only natural for viewers to doubt the tenure of their current engagement. And even though Mia’s reappearance and temptation earlier this season signalled Charlie’s willingness to commit this time around, it’s unclear whether he will permanently settle down for his new bride. Which begs the question: can a former bed-hopping bachelor ever truly change his ways?

Whether it’s reality or scripted TV, Stephanie firmly believes the most important element to any series is a sordid romantic story arc.— Grey’s Anatomy’s MerDer, Laguna Beach/The Hills’ Lauren and Jason, The Office’s PB & J, and General Hospital’s Spoily, to name a few. The more dysfunctional a couple is, the better.
A proud single gal with an obsession for everything New York, Stephanie is one relocation away from living out her dream as a Carrie Bradshaw impostor. In the meantime, her weekly column scrutinizes the most explosive couples, crushes and relationship catastrophes to unfold on the small screen. |
