Paris Hilton has built herself an empire. She’s a model, a business tycoon, a songstress and a reality TV superstar. After the huge success of the first season of Paris Hilton’s New BFF, and then the U.K. version giving her international reality exposure, the blond heiress would be crazy not to ride the proverbial train of success as far as it can take her.

Now that the second season of BFF comes to a close, and a season in Dubai is ready for release, what’s the next endeavour that will skyrocket Hilton further into ultimate reality TV stardom? Will she put her writing, singing and acting career on hold to keep her small screen fame at its peak?

The cheese TV veteran chatted with me about a chance of a Canadian BFF, tonight’s highly anticipated finale and maybe putting her reality gigs on the back burner.

TVGuide.ca: What’s the status of a Canadian BFF?
Paris Hilton: You know, they actually have approached me about doing one, and I love Canada. The people up there are so down-to-earth and real, and just really good people, so I would love to do a BFF out there. I think it would be a lot of fun. I lived out in Toronto for a couple months when I shot Repo! The Genetic Opera and I love it over there. It’s amazing.

TVG: The contestants this time around seemed a lot more genuine. What was your screening process like?
PH: Well, I think with the first season I just was having fun with it and it was more about entertainment and getting comfortable in a situation like that. In this season, I didn’t want to be tricked into becoming friends with someone who didn’t have the right intentions, so I was really careful with my choices and that the person who won has no bad intentions and they really love me for me as a friend and for nothing else. That’s something that’s really important to me. Friendship is something that I really value.

TVG: How many international versions do you plan on doing?
PH: Well, I just shot London last year for the UK:BFF, and I just got back from Dubai. I was just there shooting a couple weeks ago, and that was an amazing experience. Now there are other territories like Australia, Italy, Lebanon and Cannes, Germany, Russia and Paris. You can probably name every country and they all want me to do a BFF there, as well. I don’t know if I have enough time with my busy schedule, but I’m going to try to make time.

TVG: How did the Dubai season go?
PH: Dubai was such a unique experience. The culture is completely different and the girls on the show are totally different from any other season, and the way that everyone dresses and the way that they think. It’s just a different world over there. It was a big learning experience. Also, really fun; I got to ride my first camel. The only problem was that it was really hot because we were shooting there in the summer; it was sometimes like 120 degrees. It was brutal.

TVG: Will we be able to see it in North America?
PH: I’m finding out what they are doing with it. I know that a lot of territories are interested in buying it, so I know it will air in more places than just the Middle East.

TVG: What can we expect in the finale?
PH: Well, the kids all come to my house … wait, no, that was before. Basically I go to everyone’s hometowns and I get to meet everyone’s family and during the finale there are a lot of fun surprises and it’s a very sweet ending. I’m excited for everyone to see it. It’s really just genuine and real.

TVG: Did it work out this time around to find a true BFF or do you think we’ll be seeing a Season 3?
PH: I know that they have already called and wanted to do one so right now I’m just finishing my album, working on that and focusing on my music but as soon as I’m done doing that, I’ll maybe think about doing another one. But right now I’m just focusing on the music.

Janine has been a devoted cheesy TV critic ever since her inaugural Paradise Hotel episode. Five years, long hours and a considerable lack of beauty sleep later, her passion has earned her a Rolodex of useless knowledge.

Tackling shows other professionals cringe over such as Flavor of Love, The Real World and Celebrity Fit Club, Guilty Pleasures’ subtle complexity deserves more than just a snap judgment. Janine’s unique talent to celebrate a worthy “trash-show” is a launch pad for fans of cheesy TV everywhere.
