I wonder what Tim and Jill Taylor would say. Taran Noah Smith, who played the youngest kid on ‘90s sitcom Home Improvement, was arrested Wednesday morning for DUI and possession of drugs.
Police stopped the 27-year-old in Los Angeles County around 1 a.m., reports TMZ, suspecting he had used marijuana. During a search, officers also found hashish, a type of cannabis preparation.
Sources told the publication that Smith was in his 1998 Honda Accord, parked askew in front of a fire hydrant, when an officer decided to investigate. Apparently, the officer caught a strong whiff of marijuana and thought that Smith had been using it.
As of TMZ’s report Wednesday, Smith was in custody and was being booked for DUI and drug possession, which is a felony.
Smith played Mark Taylor on ABC’s Home Improvement, which aired from 1991 to 1999. His other TV credits include spots on 7th Heaven and Batman Beyond, while he has also appeared in films including Ebbie and Speedball: The Movie.
Smith’s onscreen Home Improvement father, Tim Allen, currently stars in the sitcom Last Man Standing (Tuesdays, 8 p.m. ET, Citytv/ABC) as Mike Baxter, a director of marketing at an outdoor sporting goods store in Denver.
The news of Smith’s arrest comes days after word that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine headliner Avery Brooks was arrested for DUI. The 63-year-old, who played Captain Benjamin Sisko, could face up to six months in jail. He’s due in court Feb. 9 to face the charges.
