‘Parks and Recreation’ renewed
Fans who’ve hopped on board NBC’s Parks and Recreation will be stoked to know that a third season of the offbeat comedy is on the way.
It’s an early pickup for the Peacock, and network execs made the decision in order to lock in the actors’ schedules, a rep told The Hollywood Reporter.
The rep, however, pointed out that Parks’ pickup doesn’t guarantee that NBC’s other Thursday comedies – The Office, Community and 30 Rock – will get another season. But each of those comedies brings in higher ratings than Parks, and will likely return.
Parks and Recreation, which stars Saturday Night Live alum Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari (Funny People, Human Giant) and Rashida Jones (The Office), has grown its ratings since it debuted last spring.
It stars Poehler as Leslie Knope, a perky deputy director of the Parks and Recreation Department in Pawnee, Ind.
Season to date, it averages 5.1 million viewers overall and is in the Top 15 prime-time shows on the major networks in the coveted 18-49 viewership.
‘Jersey Shore’ cast back for Season 2
After entering into contract negotiations for Jersey Shore Friends-style (that is, everyone gets a raise to the same amount), the core cast members have agreed to return to the MTV reality series for a second season.
According to TMZ’s sources, MTV gave the self-proclaimed Guidos and Guidettes until last Friday to come to an agreement, or they’d all be axed.
And though we know that MTV had offered $10,000 per episode, the final settlement number for each cast member is still unclear.
Though TMZ has confirmed that Vinny Guadagnino accepted the $10,000 per episode offer, lawyers are still finalizing details about the number of appearances the cast members can make outside the show.
Most of the Jersey Shore crew – particularly Nicole (Snooki) Polizzi, Paul (DJ Pauly D) Del Vecchio and Mike (The Situation) Sorrentino – are asking for the right to show up at as many as four clubs and other venues a week.
Makes sense, since last month OK! Magazine reported that Snooki’s appearance fee skyrocketed from $2,000 to $10,000 after she was punched at a club.
Since December, The Situation and Pauly D have reportedly been making $7,500 per appearance, while Jenni (J-Woww) Farley cost about $5,000 in December, and Vinny and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro took in $3,500 each (in January Ronnie’s fee dropped $500, though).
Jersey Shore follows the hot-tubbing, club-hopping, spray-tanning exploits of eight housemates spending their summer on the New Jersey Shore.
