Kate Gosselin is going it alone.
TLC has just announced that the embattled blond and her burgeoning brood will be the focus of Kate Plus Eight, formerly known as Jon & Kate Plus 8. It debuts Monday, Nov. 2.
“Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family,” Eileen O’Neill, president and general manager of TLC, said in a statement.
“The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers.”
TLC gushes that the series will “continue to capture the incredible lives of the eight Gosselin children and their family,” but will focus more intently on Kate and her “journey as a single mother building the next chapter of her life.” Gee, the spotlight will be solely on Kate, just the way she likes it.
Ex-hubby – and scumbag, depending on whom you believe – Jon Gosselin will make appearances, but not on a weekly basis. We can picture it now … “Tonight, on a very special Kate Plus Eight … the house descends into chaos when Jon and his latest girlfriend show up for Thanksgiving.”
We bet the Christmas episode will be cringetastic, as will the episode where Kate brings her boy-toy home to meet the kids, and Jon glares at him.
O’Neill also revealed that TLC is working on a development deal with Kate on a project to debut next year.
