‘Caprica’ gets a baddie
Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica has added a villain: James Marsters.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel star, who played the oh-so-awesome Spike, has signed on to play Barnabus Greeley, a dangerous terrorist leader, for a minimum of three episodes, reports EW.com.
Barnabus is said to be unpredictable and lethal, and driven by moralistic and carnal desires.
Caprica is set to launch Jan. 22.
‘Brothers & Sisters’ adds to cast
Two familiar faces will join Brothers & Sisters in the upcoming season.
Spoiler alert! Amy Aquino, who played the chain-smoking guidance counsellor on Felicity, will play a doctor tending to a member of the Walker clan for a multi-episode arc, reports EW.com.
The Wire’s Peter Gerety is set to appear as a “surprising outsider.”
Gina Torres joins ‘Gossip Girl’
It looks like we’re going to learn more about Gossip Girl’s Vanessa (Jessica Szohr).
Gina Torres will appear as Vanessa’s mom, reports TVGuide.com.
Gabriela Abrams is described as a free spirit, warm and outgoing, and a former Brooklynite who lives in Vermont.
The Firefly and Alias actress is scheduled to appear in two episodes, but will recur on the series.
New cop on ‘Southland’
Amaury Nolasco is headed to the other side of the law.
The alum of Prison Break, who played Fernando Sucre, has been cast as a regular on Southland, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He will play the aggressive new partner of Det. Lydia Adams (Regina King) who drives her bananas.
One more for ‘Friday Night Lights’
Again, the casting department has disagreed with my choices, and considering my pick for the fourth character is a regular on the upcoming The Beautiful Life, it looks like I struck out.
Jurnee Smollett (The Great Debaters) has signed on to play Jess, the daughter of a one-time NFL hopeful who knows the game of football inside and out, reports THR.
‘Parenthood’ adds a mother
Joy Bryant (ER, Get Rich or Die Tryin’) will be a regular part of NBC’s midseason show Parenthood.
While Bryant appeared in the pilot, it looks like her role as Jasmine has been bumped to regular.
The actress plays a sexy single mom who returns to San Francisco to try her hand at a dance career and introduces her five-year-old son, the product of a fling, to his father, Crosby (Dax Shepard).
