When MTV recently announced it had greenlit eight projects for development with executive producers including Jamie Foxx, Mark Burnett and Seth Meyers, you’d think that was the exciting part of the news.

But it’s MTV’s plan to reinvent the ‘80s hit flick Teen Wolf into a series that had us jumping. The series would reportedly put more emphasis on romance, horror and the werewolf mythology, according to Variety.

This isn’t the first time the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie has inspired producers to bring Teen Wolf to the small screen. An animated version aired from 1986 to 1987 and was based on the live-action film, but it wasn’t a huge hit.

Other projects include a sketch-comedy show from Jamie Foxx, whose career was launched by In Living Color; a reality series featuring The Hills star Audrina Patridge that Mark Burnett will executive-produce; and an animated laffer about a bumbling superhero team from Saturday Night Live head writer and “Weekend Update” anchor Seth Meyers.

The show also plans to develop Warren the Ape, a puppet parody of celebrity comeback shows, and Patito Feo, an adaptation of an Argentinean drama.

Plus, two teens will headline series: Emma Roberts has signed a first-look production deal with the network, while former Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon will star as a former teen pop star who tries to start over on her own.
