Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are packing it in at Grey’s Anatomy.

Us magazine snagged their co-star, James Pickens, on Feb. 7 and the actor confirmed his embattled mates are leaving the show.

“Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best,” he told the magazine.

T.R. Knight, who has been out of sorts ever since his run-in with Isaiah Washington on the Grey’s set in 2006, is moving on as well, says Pickens.

“He just wanted to pursue other career paths.”

One “source” quoted by Us was less dignified in his or her assessment of the situation, saying that Knight “complains to Katherine all the time, the energy on the set will be much better when he’s gone.

Another source says that Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes and her writing staff are “scrambling” to write a believable exit for Knight’s character, George.

Of course, the actors’ representatives, ABC and ABC Studios would not comment on the story.

While I totally understand why the duo would want to move on and do other things, I wonder if their careers will blossom after they leave the very show that made them stars in the first place.

What do you think? Are you glad that George and Izzie are leaving? greg@tvguide.ca
