For the moment, I’ll ignore the irony that a show called Heroes needs to be rescued. Instead, I’ll focus on the positive – there’s an exit strategy for the show’s walk down Suckage Lane.
Thank goodness, because fans have been bemoaning the NBC series since last season.
First, creator and executive producer Bryan Fuller will return after leaving to work on Pushing Daisies. Not surprising, since Daisies was recently cancelled.
Fuller was at Heroes during the show’s first, fabulous season; he’ll come back for Episode 19. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he outlines some of his remedies for Heroes. Among them:
- a return to character-driven stories, and fewer sci-fi overtones
- a renewed focus on the main characters’ everyday lives
- when characters die, they’ll stay dead – for the most part
- the return of some characters, such as Matt's wife.
- a limited number of stories in each episode
What do you think? Will these changes bring Heroes back to its former glory? melissa@tvguide.ca
