Well, apparently those weight issues that have been hounding the skeletal girls on 90210 haven’t impacted the pros of Dancing With the Stars.
At least according to Dancing pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Louis van Amstel.
The two men opened their big, fat (pardon the pun) mouths and attacked the weights of fellow pros Lacey Schwimmer, a newcomer to the series, and two-time champion Cheryl Burke in the latest issue of TV Guide.
“If you want to gain weight, it’s your prerogative,” said van Amstel. “We all put on weight because there was no summer tour, but you have to deal with the consequences.”
“[People] look at this show to be inspired and think, ‘If I just work hard enough, I can look like that,’” he continued. “If they watch someone who’s dancing her butt off and she’s still heavy, they can be discouraged. You have to take responsibility.”
Um, what? Take responsibility? For what? There’s a difference between curvy and fat, and these two fall under the first category. Even though they might not be dancing stick figures, they still are amazingly beautiful and talented performers.
Chmerkovskiy also had some words for the women, advising them “to do something about this.”
Maybe my television is on the fritz or something because I think they look fabulous. Even by Hollywood’s ridiculous standards, this is far-fetched, at best.
The only responsibility that needs to be taken is by Maks and Louis, for their asinine remarks, because the last thing women need to do is starve themselves to fit these barbaric ideals. Some women would kill to look like Cheryl and Lacey.
How do you think they look? denette@tvguide.ca
