Since CBC’s boffo schedule last season generated the highest ratings in 13 years, you can expect this fall season to look very similar, the network announced yesterday at its fall presentation, where talent and media alike roamed the halls of CBC's Glenn Gould Studio.
Canadian-broadcasted content include the return of satirical comedy The Rick Mercer Report, family series Heartland, single-mom sitcom Sophie and the multicultural gem Little Mosque on the Prairie. You can also expect to see our country’s only late-night talk show The Hour along with the The Tudors back with season two.
Reality television also returns. The entrepreneur’s reality show the Dragon’s Den is coming back for yet another season of making small business dreams come true.
CBC also brings you new shows this fall including Celine, a mini-series biopic that will showcase the life and career of Quebec singer Celine Dion. The cast for the new series includes newcomer Christine Ghawi as Celine, Enrico Colantoni playing her husband and manager, Rene Angelil and Louise Pitre playing her mother, Therese Dion.
The other hyped up mini-series includes Everest about two Canadians who managed to make it up to the top of the famous mountain back in October 1982. Everest will star Jason Priestly (Beverly Hills, 90210) and William Shatner.
Sadly, Marketplace is not on the new schedule, but will be back in January, however two new acquisitions, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! will bow in the fall, with Trebek and co. taking over the 7:30 p.m. timeslot. WoF will move to 5:30 p.m. ET.
It all starts this fall; be sure to check out our upcoming September Fall Preview for interview and all the info.
