Austrian authorities are searching for a woman who failed to appear for the start of her trial on charges of threatening to kill David Caruso.
A warrant had been issued after she didn’t show up for her trial yesterday in the alpine city of Innsbruck, reported the Associated Press. Austrian newspaper, The Tiroler Tageszeitung said that her lawyer had reassured authorities last week that she intended to be in court.
Prosecutors allege the woman sent more than 100 letters to the CSI: Miami star and pursued him for an autograph. But after refusing to give her the autograph, Caruso reportedly received death threats.
One of her letters allegedly had a Miami postmark and showed up with Caruso’s regular fan mail.
Austrian privacy laws state that authorities can not reveal her identity – just that the defendant is a 41-year-old native of the alpine province of Tyrol. She was arrested after a joint investigation by the FBI and Austrian authorities.
A court-appointed psychiatrist testified that the suspect had been diagnosed with a “profound personality disorder,” reported The Austria Press Agency.
The public prosecutor’s office said the suspect vanished without a trace and took her laptop with her.
