Sweet merciful Manolos, say it ain’t so! The Internet is abuzz with word that Tyra Banks – she of bountiful weaves and fierce poses – could be quitting America’s Next Top Model.
The reality show, which she created and has hosted for 10 cycles, has long been subject to rumours citing behind-the-scenes squabbling in its quest to find, well, America’s next top model.
But now, OK! magazine reports that Banks and her photo shoot creative director Jay Manuel are bickering like very chic cats and dogs.
“It’s gotten so bad that Tyra and Jay aren’t speaking,” an insider told the publication, adding that Banks is icy to others on the show as well. “Tyra barely interacts with the contestants and only wants to show up on judging day,” the source said.
Though Banks declined to comment on the reports, word has it that she may be seeking a new supermodel to fill her stilettos. Heresy, I say! Sacrilege!
“She’s really throwing all her weight behind her talk show,” said a source close to her other series, The Tyra Banks Show.
“She’s putting lots of pressure on her staff to keep her show on the map. She had Barack Obama on, she had Hilary Clinton on — she got a taste of playing with the big boys and now Top Model seems to detract from her big plans.”
