Mother of four Darlene Tracy is suing Oprah Winfrey over her latest show, Oprah's Big Give. According to the New York Daily News, Tracy claims she sent a pitch for a similar show called The Philanthropist to executive producers on Winfrey’s show, with the idea of challenging contestants to help the needy.
Tracy says that she received a letter back asking for more details, and she subsequently put together a business proposal in March that was denied in July.
Over a year later, Winfrey aired the memorable show where she gave money to audience members so they could help their communities. A month later, ABC's Big Give was announced.
Tracy filed a complaint back then in Boston, trying to keep the show from airing. She represented herself and the case was dismissed without an opinion.
This time she has a lawyer and an appeal with documents that supposedly support her claims. A spokesperson for Winfrey says the claims are without merit.
The Daily News also reports the Winfrey had been shopping around a Big Give book, but talks have ceased since the lawsuit.
