It’s been a difficult year for Robin Williams, with the health problems and “failing mojo,” as some reporters on this tour seem to think he’s suffering from.
But right now he has those same critics in stitches at the press tour, telling us how nice it is to be on the same bill as Hung, and that it’s about time he did a comeback tour now that he’s run out of endorsement money from Bicentennial Man.
In all seriousness, Williams is ready to make a comeback, and with the help of HBO, his new comedy tour will hit TV screens this December. Robin Williams: Weapons of Self-Destruction, is the comedian’s upcoming stand-up event from Washington’s Constitution Hall, and marks his first appearance on the network in seven years.
“Do I modulate my energy?” Williams muses in response to a question on whether or not he’ll be ready to do such a long standup event. “That will be interesting to see when I do the hour and a half. About a month ago I did a 20 minute gig and I was like, ‘nope, I’m not ready yet.’ It will be interesting.”
In the meantime, Williams continues to do impressions of pygmies Twittering, riding his bicycle to get back into shape and keeping up with current American issues. “Hopefully by [the special], I’ll have enough political material for Washington,” he promises.
Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction airs Dec. 6 on HBO.
