Despite having aired four episodes on HBO and HBO Canada, critics still can’t seem to wrap their heads around the idea of Hung.
Is it a comedy? Is it a dark comment on the economy? Are we ever going to see the lead character’s … member?
“There is a certain problem in showing it,” says executive producer Colette Burson. “Because for each woman who sees it and interacts with it, it’s sort of perfect.”
And that’s the basis for this entire Hung session that HBO is putting on this afternoon in L.A. That, and the fact that the kids on the series, Charlie Saxton and Eddie Jemison, look nothing like their parents, played by Thomas Jane and Anne Heche.
“There’s no reason this show should be good,” Jane says. “It’s a show about a guy with a big ****. Come on!”
Believe it or not, that’s probably the most direct and honest answer anyone on this panel is willing to give the journalists in the room, half of who are playing into the double entendres, and the other half who are trying to ask serious questions and being given the runaround with offbeat jokes and tangents.
Clearly, Jane and co. don't really care about promoting their show today. They probably just found out that it's been renewed too.
