In what’s quickly becoming the theme of the day, another star is hoping to reclaim her career through a reality show.

Grammy winner Monica, who has been in and out of recording studios since she was 12 years old, is trying to balance family and a career comeback in her new series, Monica: Still Standing.

“It was scary stepping into a situation that exposes everything before the album is released, not to mention all the personal stuff,” the singer says. “The hardest part is trusting people, picking songs, picking singles, a lot of the time that happens without the artist.”

In the series, Monica tries to show the love of family and the “love of God” while standing up for her music and taking charge of the creative decisions. “It creates some friction with the people that I work with,” she admits.

But that isn't the 28-year-old's only concern. Making a comeback amid a sea of younger, emerging talent can be a bit intimidating. “Starting so young, there just weren’t many people younger than me. You always get nervous, you always get afraid. But I learned that there’s room for all of us, we all do something different. Every time my feet start to fail me, my faith brings me back. I’ve got my boxing gloves on!”

Monica: Still Standing premières Oct. 27, 10 p.m. ET/PT, BET Networks.
