Show: Gossip Girl
Date: Airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET, returned May 30, CTV
In a nutshell: Based on the popular novel series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar, the show revolves around the lives of the young elite growing up on New York's Upper East Side who attend fancy schools while dealing with sex, drugs, jealousy, and other teenage issues.
Predictions: When the shows all returned from their strike-induced hiatuses, Gossip Girl never returned to CTV because the network was already packed with shows – until now. In its Canadian première, Blair heads back to school, and Jenny struggles to keep up with the in-crowd, Serena, Eric and Chuck adjust to their new blended family. In later episodes, everything seems to be going swimmingly… until her evil former pal, Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) returns to wreak major havoc in her life.

Show: Greek
Date: Airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET, debuts July 4, CTV
In a nutshell: Rusty is determined to make his freshman year exciting and memorable and decides to rush a fraternity. Too bad Casey, his popular, older sister – already a sorority girl – isn’t too keen on sharing the spotlight with her sibling.
Predictions: Rusty comes into his own as a pledge and will enjoy college and fraternity life. He’ll clash with his conservative roommate, who is against the Greek system, while Casey will have her hands full with her own pledges.

Show: Without a Trace
Date: Airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET, beginning May 30, CTV
In a nutshell: The New York-based FBI Missing Persons Squad search for missing persons.
Predictions: Nothing too much has changed as far format for this show, but hopefully we’ll be seeing a softer side of Jack, after all the traumatic events he’s had to deal with, and a pregnant Sam will be left to deal with motherhood alone. In storyline news, a lottery winner disappears after winning millions, and a man vanishes after waking from a three-year coma.

Anthony LaPaglia, CBS
Show: Flashpoint
Date: Airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET, debuts July 11, CTV
In a nutshell: This new drama delves into the emotional journeys of the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of cops in the Strategic Response Unit (inspired by Toronto's Emergency Task Force).
Predictions: The show stars Enrico Colantoni (Veronica Mars), Hugh Dillon (Durham County), Amy Jo Johnson (Felicity) and David Paetkau (Whistler) as members of the unique unit. The highly skilled, tactical team rescues hostages, busts gangs, defuses bombs, climbs the sides of buildings and talks down suicidal teens, and are also trained in getting inside the suspect's head to diffuse the situation to try and save lives. Sounds like a fall show in summer – definitely worth giving a try.

Show: Dance Machine
Date: Friday, June 27, 8 p.m. ET, ABC
In a nutshell: Six “real” people with all sorts of various life experiences face off in a series of dance-offs with popular songs.
Predictions: The ABC release says to imagine a 25-year-old gravedigger and a 70-year-old granny dancing off to Thriller. With all the other dance shows out there this summer, I’d rather not.
