Pre-strike/Post-strike: Fortunately Medium began well into the strike, allowing us for some fresh TV-viewing (and landing it in the top ten spot in Canada). With nine episodes to air when it began in January and a strike-resolution in February, all 16 episodes have been able to air consecutively. The show has continued to rely on the family values that make it so unique to a drama, but at the same time notable appearance from Angelica Houston, Kelly Preston and Rosanna Arquette have added extra star-power to the show. Its Monday night time slot hasn’t hurt either, although NBC is moving it back to Sunday nights next year.

Character Development: Being nominated for a Golden Globe hasn’t stopped Arquette from nailing her role as Allison DuBois. Last season we saw her lose her job in the D.A.’s office and the after-effects haven’t been easy on her this year. The struggles of the DuBois family have almost made for a brand new show, allowing Medium to evolve from what it was. Although the general idea of the show is far-fetched, the grounded family values and the real-life storylines are what keeps us grounded.

Cliffhangers/Wrap Up: It will be hard to top last season’s finale, and any major cliffhangers will probably have short-term effects rather than long term effects have we’ve seen this season.
