Where we left off: Duff Goldman and the gang from Charm City Cakes made their usual batch of crazy confections, including the world’s largest cupcake, a model of the Stanley Cup, a replica of the bridge of the Starship Enterprise (complete with Captain Kirk and the rest of the crew), the Millennium Falcon, and a giant peanut butter cup.
What ended up being the show’s Season 6 finale in the U.S. is where we pick up in Canada, as the entire staff heads to Hawaii to create a memorable cake for the 100th episode of Lost.
Predictions: Ace of Cakes will only get bigger and better. With its success, not to mention other cake-making shows like TLC’s Cake Boss, custom cake-making is quite the rage and doesn’t seem to be dying down anytime soon.
The buzz: Cake Boss has been getting a lot of hype lately (TLC’s publicity department sure knows how to market its shows), but Ace of Cakes and its quirky cast — Duff, Mary Alice, Geof, Elena, Adam, Ben, Mary, Katherine and Anna — make the Food Network show the one to watch.
