SUDSIEST QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND:
“It’s performance art.”
—James Franco regarding his GH stint to Roger Friedman
Translation: That's what Steve Burton tells me soap acting is. I guess I'm drinking the Monavie Juice now!

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK:
<< REW: James Scott kills it!

Hell hath no fury like an Elvis impersonator scorned! Days of our Lives' James Scott murdered his competition in the acting community this past week as EJ learned of Nicole’s betrayal. Everything about his performance was perfect, from the pacing of his dialogue and on-point acting choices, to his unapologetic fury. And Scott’s never sexier than when EJ is livid. Bravo!

WEEKEND SUDS FLASHES:
Was Steve Burton Ingo’s best man? NuColby on AMC! Kerwin out?

• Did the wedding party throw peanuts? Ingo Rademacher got married this past weekend to the mother of Nutty Peanut, his fiancée Ehico, while Tyler Christopher welcomed his son, Greysun James.

• Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Brianne Moncrief. Soap Opera Digest has announced that Colby will now be  played by Natalie Hall. The actress, who has appeared on The Good Wife and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, will start filming in mid-October.

• Real or rumour? Suds Report is hearing that Emmy-nominated actor Brian Kerwin (right) may be let go from One Life. I can’t confirm the buzz, so take this gossip with a grain of salt. I highly doubt One Life will kill off another one of Viki’s husbands, but stranger things have happened. Also, in other Llanview news, expect a big Halloween party at the end of October, Ross may have a relative living in Gayview (I hope it’s Kim), John Brotherton announced that he’s L.A. bound (alert AMC) and tested for a role on Ugly Betty, and Brody’s sister, Nadine, may be headed back into her bro’s orbit soon.

• Canadian bacon, alert: Dominic Zamprogna (Dante, GH) is Canadian! Who knew? The talented newcomer hails from Hamilton, Ont.! Now if only GH will cut Zamprogna’s hair, I’d be happy. He’s not a hair model, people, so do the actor a favour, tie him up and give him a buzz cut, STAT!

One Life to Live, ABC

SOAP OPERA MYSTERY HOUR: The weekend’s hottest not-so-blind item
—Which AMC actor has made the cast thrilled with his decision not to move to L.A.? “He’s a pompous and arrogant jerk,” says a co-star. “We’re all thrilled he’s not making the move.” The actor is also reportedly responsible for getting James Scott and Julie Pinson fired from their AMC and Port Charles roles, respectively. If you can’t guess who this actor is then I’ll have no choice but to revoke your soap fan membership.

SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES OF THE WEEK:
Watch One Life, or die!

• You are about to get sleepy, very sleepy … Listen to me very carefully: If you are reading this, you will watch One Life To Live every single day and never turn it off. If you don’t, I will print nude pictures of Brian Frons and Ellen Wheeler every week until One Life’s ratings beat GH and AMC permanently.

Meanwhile, Llanview lovers need to become proactive so start writing in to the following addresses to make your voices heard. Also, listed is AMC’s contact information to demand head hack Chuck Pratt’s firing.

CASTING COACH:
Who should play Y&R’s Tucker “Newman?”

Pundits are starting to weigh in on the best actor to play the new role of millionaire bad boy, Tucker on Y&R. Soapgeist wouldn’t mind seeing Ben Masters or William Devane in the role. Recently, Daytimeconfidential.com’s Jamey Giddens suggested the brilliant Michael Nader as a Victor recast (sacrilege alert), but I think the former AMC and Dynasty stud would be perfect as Tucker.  Meanwhile, ATI’s James Romanovich opines he’d kill to see John Reilly in the coveted part.

— In light of James Franco’s bizarre GH casting, Soapgeist recommends these actors take on the following soap roles:
1. Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kendall Hart on AMC
2. Justin Timberlake as CJ Roberts on One Life
3. Eva Longoria as Brenda Barrett on GH
4. Meryl Streep as Beth Logan on B&B
5. Angela Bassett as Drucilla Winters on Y&R
6. Angie Harmon as Cassie Carpenter on One Life
7. Neil Patrick Harris as Eric Brady on DAYS
8. Rihanna as Lily Winters on Y&R
9. LL Cool J as Malcolm Winters on Y&R
10. Lindsay Lohan as Sarah Roberts on One Life

DID YOU KNOW THAT …
… Bob Guza also has a producer credit on GH? The Emmy-winning scribe is listed as a consulting producer. Also, in 1982, Guza won Canada’s highest film honour (think Oscars), the Genie Award for best adapted screenplay for the film, Melanie. And to think Canadians are known for their discerning tastes in art.
