One Life to Live may soon be dead after an impressive 44-year run on ABC, but four of its characters may just have, well, one more life in them. OLTL stars Kassie DePaiva, Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson will be reprising their roles on the cancelled soap in new episodes of General Hospital.
The good news for OLTL fans came from executive producer Frank Valentini Wednesday.
“Incorporating the characters from One Life to Live continue[s] the legacy of the legacy of the show. I am confident viewers and fans alike will be excited for the arrival of John (Easton), Starr (Alderson), Blair (DePaiva) and Todd (Howarth),” Valenti said in a statement reported by TVGuide.com.
“We have a very exciting story planned for the citizens of Port Charles, with Sonny Corinthos at the centre of it!” The episodes do not yet have an airdate.
ABC is closing the coffin on One Life to Live this Friday, airing its final episode in its usual 2 p.m. ET, 1 p.m. PT timeslot. The long-running soap was rumoured to be getting an online revival, but that concept ended up to be too costly for Prospect Park, the company that purchased it and All My Children after the network cancelled them.
“We always knew it would be an uphill battle to create something historical, and unfortunately we couldn’t ultimately secure the backing and clear all the hurdles in time,” Prospect Park heads Rich Frank and Ryan Kwatinetz revealed to the disappointment of sudsers all over the world in November.
All My Children and One Life to Live have been replaced by the daytime talk shows The Chew and The Revolution, respectively. The Revolution makes its ABC debut on Monday, Jan. 16, while The Chew kicked off shortly after AMC’s series finale in September.
