Clearly Russell has made a deal with the devil, or has a horseshoe up his butt. If he ever goes hunting for buried treasure sometime, I’m going to make sure I’m following him.

Russell grabbed his own buried treasure last night as he found the THIRD immunity idol in as many weeks. Sure, he needed a bit of a clue, but still.

The clue came thanks to some shameless product placement by Survivor and CBS, as Russell’s team – made up of Dave, Brett, Laura, Russell and Natalie – beat out the other five in a weird cradle challenge that involved ropes, flags and a post with 15 holes in it.

The winners were Russell’s purple team, who scored a picnic lunch highlighted by mac and cheese, hot dogs, potato chips and pie and an award of a Palm Pre, which was used not only to take pictures with, but also emailed the team a clue and video as to where the next immunity idol was.

Once it was revealed that the idol was under a lichen-covered rock, Russ wasted no time trying to hunt it down. And after searching an island FULL of rocks with lichen on them, stumbled on the correct rock and pocketed the idol.

The elimination challenge dealt with throwing rocks at ceramic tiles and then shooting spears at a target, a challenge that Mick won, which opened Laura up to elimination. Shambo, of course, was giddy with glee, and could not be cajoled into voting for anyone other than the brunette with the suspiciously fake-looking chest.

It seemed that Laura would be the most likely to be offed, until tribal, when she and Natalie tied for votes. The stalemate was broken by everyone but Laura and Natalie voting, and Laura got the most votes. Shambo got what she wanted. A little late, but I don’t think she minded.
