Do people actually like America’s Got Talent?  Don’t get me wrong, I love a good-hearted, patriotic, singing, dancing, bright lights kind of show, but I just keep yawning and trying to resist the urge to change the channel… sadly knowing I can’t because I for some unknown reason agreed to recap the show.

The AGT finale opened with a super-long performance by all the Top 10 finalists singing “Don’t Leave Me This Way.” Then there was an enjoyable performance by Leona Lewis, who got her start to stardom on The X Factor. We jumped into a look back at the worst acts of the season; not only did the producers waste viewers’ time with that, but they actually brought them out for another super-long performance.

The only time I was excited was when there was a commercial, despite being utterly sick of that Love Happens trailer.

I think the only way one can sit through this show is by popping a Percocet (Nurse Jackie style), getting paid as much as the judges do, or drink heavily, but I can’t because it’s a school night. There was another recap of the highs and lows of the season, I got goose bumps, but it’s probably just because my apartment is so cold.

There was a performance by a Cirque du Soleil group and then they finally they revealed the Top 5 acts voted by America. In a grueling process, Nick Cannon brought out two acts at a time, and announced who was staying and who was going home. (Note to Nick Cannon: we get the concept that one stays one goes home, you don’t have to keep saying it every single time.)

Hairo Torres, The Fab Five and Grandma Lee all said goodbye as Barbara Padilla, Voices of Glory, The Texas Tenors, Kevin Skinner and Recycled Percussion went through. If you’ve been watching, I know you’re thinking “What the?! That means Lawrence Beaman and Drew Stevyns didn’t go through!” Those were my thoughts exactly, clearly America can’t pick their own talent, no wonder it’s manufactured all the time.

Shakira came out and did a performance of her new single, “She Wolf,” and then they started to narrow the down the Top 5 with Voices of Glory coming in fifth place, followed by The Texas Tenors in fourth. Recycled Percussion came in third place (say WHAT??) and Rascal Flatts came out and sang their song “Summer Nights.” Then Britain’s Got Talent golden girl Susan Boyle performed just before the final two acts found out who was in first and second place.

Are you ready for it? Barbara Padilla came in second and America’s favourite former chicken catcher, Kevin Skinner, became AGT’s fourth season winner. The End. (Thank God.)
