Last week, Lovely and Tennille were put up on the chopping block, but in a flicker of compassion Ramsay sent neither home.
This week, noticing the tension between the contestants, Ramsay had his fun and paired up chefs that were at odds with each other so they could learn how to work together. Tennille and Suzanne, who are usually head to head, were paired up, along with Van and Andy.
The challenge was to make sausages; the men claimed to know how to handle their sausages, but the women took hold and won the challenge. They won an Oktoberfest-inspired prize while the men had to clean anything and everything as their punishment. Jim and Robert didn’t contribute at all to the challenge and Robert didn’t take the loss too well. When sous chef Scott accused him of not being passionate enough, Robert threw a fit and claimed he “almost died” last year just to be there.
Celebrities Tom Green, Melinda Clarke and John O’Hurley came to dine, which brought even more pressure to the dual kitchens. The men were off to a crippled start with Kevin’s bum ankle and Dave missing to get his arm put into a cast. During service, the girls managed to keep a steady pace until Tek froze up, and Lovely at one point had no idea what she was sending out. By the end of service, both teams were neck in neck (Dave returned and was faster than his teammates with only one hand in action) and despite Andy screwing up the meat station a few times (something Robert couldn’t handle), the men managed to pull through and win.
Sabrina, who impressed Ramsay during the service, put Lovely and Tek up on the chopping block. “Dramatically,” before we hit commercial Ramsay calls upon Suzanne, not to eliminate her, but to ask her opinion, she says she would get rid of Lovely, Ramsay more than agrees with her, and thus Lovely is sent packing.
It pretty much looks like the Apocalypse smokes up Hell’s Kitchen next week, and I can’t wait to eat it up.
