Let’s be honest – the men on The Bachelor aren’t really all they’re cracked up to be.

From football player Jesse Palmer and actor Charlie O’Connell (yes, that’s Jerry’s younger bro), to Prince Lorenzo Borghese and Dr. Travis Stork (who now co-hosts medical talk show The Doctors), this long-running reality show always seems to feature slightly different variations of the exact same man season after season.

Sure, they boast quintessential all-American good looks (tousled hair, ripped six-packs and all), wholesome morals and enough charisma to woo even the most critical of viewers (like us), but the guys are pretty much cut from the same cloth. After fourteen seasons, where’s the diversity?

I’m not just talking ethnicity, either (although that definitely doesn’t seem to be part of ABC’s game plan). Worse, the bachelors always seem to possess the same personality – good-natured, kind, athletic and so on. All admirable and appealing qualities for sure, but ever so monotonous.

With The Bachelor’s famous “Women Tell All” episode airing this week, marking the near end of Jake Pavelka’s journey, it got us musing about the next man we’d like to see take his place. Somebody witty, snarky, mysterious or super-intelligent, perhaps … and thus our list of TV characters who should be on The Bachelor was born.

The Bachelor: The Women Tell All airs Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. ET on Citytv/ABC.

Look for Jake to bestow his final rose upon either Vienna or Tenley the following Monday.

And, on March 8, former bachelor Jason Mesnick, who stirred up controversy when he dumped fiancée Melissa Rycroft on national television, will marry runner-up Molly Malaney in a two-hour special.
