Ah, Valentine’s Day. When it comes to celebrating Cupid’s holiday, most people either wholeheartedly embrace it or absolutely despise it.
I happen to fall somewhere in the middle – while I’m a sucker for fresh flowers, cute cards and candy hearts, I happen to think lavish celebrations (especially V-Day proposals) are corny at best.
Either way you swing it, stores and restaurants will be abuzz this week with folks making last-minute Feb. 14 plans, and all of this Valentine’s mumbo jumbo got my colleagues and I thinking about TV relationships – more specifically, TV’s worst couples.
Yes, we know we sound jaded and there are tons of great television pairings we could’ve talked about instead (see our classic TV couples gallery here), but these irritating duos stick out in our minds thanks to their gag-inducing sappiness, constant fighting, humongous secrets or finicky on-again/off-again statuses.
You might disagree – I know there are House viewers out there who love Lucas and Cuddy’s humdrum love story, and Dexter fans who think Laguerta and Batista’s inter-office affair is sweet and romantic – but for one reason or another, the following 30 couples manage to grate on our last nerves week after endless week.
